Santi and I also went to see the Powerhouse today. It was not one of my original venues, but was recommended to me by a woman in the church. It is also a refurbished building like the Linen Building and has an even more industrial feel. The building itself is a beautiful red brick building in downtown Boise. Inside the walls are all brick. It has a ground floor and an upper "balcony". They also have a lot of different types of lighting that really transform the room. They are an all inclusive venue, unlike the others. They have in house catering, bar tending, DJ, and day of coordinator. Here are a few pictures:
We also saw a few beautiful wedding pictures of the train depot that put it back into consideration for me. I think with a good coordinator it really could look nice. It does not, however, have the great lighting capabilities as the Linen building and the Powerhouse.
At this point, I'm torn between the Powerhouse and the Depot. I love the Linen Building, but it has two strikes against it: I can't do the ceremony there (at least I won't pay for it) and there is no where to take pictures. Although, I still think it is the most beautiful venue.
The depot may not look quite as warm as the others, however, it is great for doing both ceremony and reception and ideal for pictures.
The Powerhouse looks cool (I like the brick) is conveniently inclusive and easy to transform from ceremony to reception. The bad part of the powerhouse is that, like the Linen Building, there are very few places for pictures. With both the linen building and the powerhouse, we would have to leave after the ceremony and go to a nearby park or something to take pictures.
Okay, now what I need is input and advice!!! What should I do? Let me know what you would do:)

PS I sent you an email about the Powerhouse last week!!!! (Let's give credit where credit's due...) he he :)
Anywho, is there a signficant price difference with planning between the two? Sometimes building things from scratch can get even more expensive than the ready made venue. But, I don't think that leaving the venue for pictures is a huge strike away from the powerhouse because you'll do pics either before (which I think you were against...) or do them after the ceremony, which may be nice to have a little break between the ceremony and reception where your guests are milling about and eating hors'dourves (sp???) and whatnot. It's the obligatory milling period before dinner which might be nice to have a fun break from just to decompress from the tension of the ceremony and take some pics. From the photos, it seems as if the Powerhouse is a darker building all around and the Depot is a lighter building. Using that, like in Ms. Everett's AP English, which do you prefer? The photos and whole tone will be different. Maybe knowing what time of day you want all of this to happen will help, as well as a general color scheme. Depot might be good earlier in the day and more fun/elegant/better-with-lighter colors. The Powerhouse may be better in the evening with more subdued lighting and deeper/richer colors with a more hip/modern/formal tone. So again, I feel like I repeat myself a lot, maybe getting some more of what feeling you want to have and what style/colors you're imagining may be good. Even if you just sit down and write crap on a paper or talk about it. The Powerhouse seems like it might be a little truer to those pics you sent me, what with the brick and all.
Anyway, I'm glad Santi went with you, he is my hero and I love him. I think I love this method because I can be incredibly verbose and no one can interrupt me. This is good.
Post some pics of weddings you like, I think that will help people make some better judgements. Love you!
